WWE’s Darren Young: There was a time when I was ‘terrified’ of being outed

World Wrestling Entertainment wrestler Darren Young, who become the first active professional wrestling star to come out as gay when he made the casual announcement to a TMZ photographer earlier this week, appeared on NBC’s “Today Show” on Friday.

Young, whose real name is Fredrick Rosser, said there was a time in his career when he was “terrified” of being outed, but that he is in love and wants to live his life on his terms, and be a role model for young people experiencing many of the struggles he faced growing up.
