Elizabeth Cheney does not believe in her lesbian sister’s right to marry

“I am strongly pro-life and I am not pro-gay marriage.

Elizabeth Cheney
“I believe the issue of marriage must be decided by the states, and by the people in the states, not by judges and not even by legislators, but by the people themselves.”

– Elizabeth Cheney, Daughter of former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, as quoted by The Daily Caller.

Cheney’s younger sister, Mary, is openly gay and married her partner Heather Poe last year. Elizabeth Cheney is running for the Republican nomination for a U.S. Senate seat from Wyoming.

In response, Mary Cheney posted to Facebook on Friday night: “For the record, I love my sister, but she is dead wrong on the issue of marriage. … Freedom means freedom for everyone.”
