Appearing on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight,” U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) on Monday downplayed her well-documented history of anti-gay sentiment, and called Morgan “absolutely rude” for suggesting that she has been judgmental of the gay community.
“I’m not a judgmental person,” said Bachmann, to which Morgan replied, “Really?”
Morgan reminded Bachmann of her remarks at a 2004 National Education Leadership Conference when she said that homosexuality was “a very sad life,” and called it “part of Satan:”
“If you’re involved in the gay and lesbian lifestyle, it’s bondage. It is personal bondage, personal despair and personal enslavement. And that’s why this is so dangerous.”
Bachmann also said that “rhetoric is far worse against people who stand for traditional marriage. If anyone gets attacked in this country, it’s people who stand for traditional marriage.”
