Man accused of fatally shooting former boyfriend, business partner captured

MINNEAPOLIS -- A man accused of fatally shooting his former boyfriend and business partner in suburban Minneapolis was arrested Thursday after a month on the run, when police responding to a suspicious person report found him on foot peering at a drive-thru menu in another suburb, police said.

BLAINE, Minn. -- Law officers returned to the Anoka County-Blaine Airport Tuesday, but an intensive daylong search failed to find a man accused of killing his ex-boyfriend last month. The renewed search was prompted by an officer's early morning spotting of a man near the airport who may have resembled Lyle "Ty" Hoffman, Blaine Police Chief Chris Olson said.

Detroit police arrest man accused of shooting partner, burning down house

DETROIT – Police in Detroit, Mich., have arrested a man who allegedly shot his partner and burned down their house to hide the evidence. The suspect, identified by police as Edwardo Ross, allegedly shot his 42-year-old partner, James Foxhall, in their Detroit home on Aug. 15, then dumped Foxhall's body in the city's Palmer Park.

Gay man beaten, left for dead, dies after being removed from life support

SAN FRANCISCO -- A San Francisco gay man who was beaten and left for dead in the city's Castro District on Sunday was taken off of life support Wednesday afternoon while more than 100 people gathered in a silent vigil on a hill in a nearby park. Police are now investigating his death of Bryan Higgins, 31, as a homicide.

FLINT, Mich. -- A Michigan man has been sentenced to more than 18 years in prison for biting and beating his two-year-old daughter to death in what officials said was an attempt to make her gay. Donovan Haynes, 23, was sentenced Monday to roughly 18 to 40 years in prison after pleading no contest to second-degree murder of his daughter, Ti'Airra Woodward, in July 2011.
