A Pennsylvania man was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder after he posted a deranged rant, including an attack on the LGBTQ+ community, online while holding his father’s severed head.

As NBC News reports, 32-year-old Justin Mohn is accused of killing his 68-year-old father, Michael Mohn. The suspect’s mother, Denice Mohn, called police after returning home Tuesday evening to find her husband’s body in a blood-spattered bathroom and her son missing. Police found a machete and a large kitchen knife in a bathtub and the victim’s head wrapped in a plastic bag inside a kitchen pot in an adjacent bedroom.

Police later found Mohn 100 miles away on the campus of a National Guard Training Center in Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania. According to multiple media reports, Mohn was armed with a firearm, but authorities arrested him “without incident” around 9:25 p.m. He has been charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse and was denied bail.

Mohn also posted a video to YouTube, which has since been removed, in which he could be seen holding a plastic bag containing his father’s severed head. According to NBC News, in the nearly 15-minute clip, Mohn described his father as a federal employee and a “traitor,” and said that his father “is now in hell for eternity.” He called for the death of all federal officials, and for violence against President Joe Biden, the Black Lives Matter movement, the LGBTQ+ community, and antifa activists. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Mohn also ranted against “far-left woke mobs” and parroted right-wing conspiracy theories.

In a clip posted to X by civil rights attorney and clinical instructor at the Harvard Law School Cyberlaw Clinic Alejandra Caraballo, Mohn calls for “the ceasing of all woke and gender ideology propaganda in schools and other public places,” and “the capturing and torturing of federal employees and their associates.”

Local NBC affiliate WCAU reports that investigators believe Mohn was reading from a prepared script in the video.

According to WCAU, Mohn has filed at least three lawsuits against the federal government, alleging in one that the government “negligently and fraudulently induced him to borrow money to pay for his education without sufficiently warning him of the possibility that he would face a difficult job market and could be unable to pay back his loan.” Two of the lawsuits were dismissed, and a judge denied a third, citing Mohn’s failure to pay a $2,000 filing fee.

In 2020, Mohn also sued his former employer, Progressive Insurance, claiming that he had been fired due to sex discrimination against men. Court records show that he was actually let go after he kicked in the door of his workplace in August 2017.

According to NBC News, Mohn self-published a nonfiction book via Amazon in 2017 containing a letter warning then-President Donald Trump of “a peaceful revolution helped led by the author if positive change does not come to America and the world soon.”

In another self-published pamphlet, Mohn wrote that “Americans will have to weigh what is worse — allowing themselves to lose freedom and independence or killing their own family members, teachers, coworkers, bosses, judges, elected leaders, and other older generations who are traitors and wish to take away the freedom and independence that comes with America, democracy, and free market capitalism,” according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Neighbors described Mohn to WCAU as “weird” and “unhinged.” One neighbor said he had called the police on Mohn several times in recent months for repeatedly staring directly at his house from across the street.
