Gay Republicans in Texas said Friday they may stop fighting their party's proposed endorsement of "reparative therapy" over worries that even tougher anti-gay language could be added to the party platform. The Texas GOP is poised to adopt a new platform this weekend that would support psychological treatments that seek to turn gay people straight.

Where’s the ‘B’ in national LGBTQ organizations?

Friday, March 1, 2013
Source
Given the overwhelming evidence in the past few years showing that bisexual persons exist in greater numbers than the combined gay male, lesbian and transgender populations, we must ask whether some of the national queer organizations that send out donation requests demanding that we “demand equality for everyone” are themselves paying attention to the particular needs of bisexual folks, not merely as lip service, not just as an afterthought, but in any sort of tangible way. Noting that none of the following 10 national organizations includes the word “bisexual” or even the letter “B” in its name, I called and emailed media representatives of these groups about their bisexual policies and leadership for this report...

Chuck Hagel: A disappointing choice from Obama

Tuesday, January 8, 2013
Chuck Hagel
Rather than use his mandate from winning re-election to reward his key constituencies, President Barack Obama has poked a stick in the eye of the LGBT community by turning to former Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel for Defense Secretary -- a man who had an abysmal voting record in Congress and drew criticism for using anti-gay slurs back in 1998.

Log Cabin Republicans: How the LGBT GOP group has abandoned gay rights

Thursday, October 25, 2012
R. Clarke CooperExecutive Director, Log Cabin Republicans.
The Log Cabin Republicans now have squandered their last ounce of potential credibility. After 35 years in their dysfunctional relationship with the Republican Party, these gay conservatives have gotten nowhere, and are unable to admit it. And the party, after 35 years of accepting their endorsements, endowments, and votes, still degrades, derides, derogates, and vilifies all LGBT people and their families, both in its platform and in its legislation.

I’m not surprised that the Log Cabin Republicans have gone against the best interests of LGBT Americans in endorsing Mitt Romney. Responding to their rationalization would normally not be worth the time, but one of their attempts at self-justification deserves a response...

Last week, the publication of which I serve as executive editor (the Florida Agenda) printed a paid political advertisement that had been provided by the Broward County, Florida chapter of the Log Cabin Republicans. The half page black and white ad depicted the late U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens, as his body was carried out of the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, in which he had died moments earlier...

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A political advertisement in the current issue of the Florida Agenda, an LGBT weekly newspaper distributed throughout central and south Florida, and paid for by the Broward (County) Log Cabin Republican Club of Florida, attacked Democrats and President Barack Obama -- using an image of the lifeless body of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens in the aftermath of last month's attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya.
