During an interview with Focus on the Family president Jim Daly, Paul Ryan reassured the anti-gay group that a Romney-Ryan administration will fiercely oppose gay rights. Focus on the Family and its founder James Dobson have a long history of promoting anti-gay policies and ex-gay therapy, and earned a shout-out from Romney earlier this week while campaigning in Colorado, where it is headquartered.

I have a hair-trigger sensitivity for the protection of LGBT youth. Even if an action is wrapped in heart-themed paper and tied with a Jesus-loves-you ribbon, when there is something rotten inside, I can smell it. There is something very rotten at the core of the Day of Dialogue event sponsored by the conservative Christian ministry Focus on the Family.

Another researcher has come out complaining about how a religious right "expert" distorted her work to stigmatize the LGBTQ community. Rick Fitzgibbons of the NARTH (the National Association of Research and Therapy of Homosexuality) distorted research on same-sex adoption to make the case that children in same-sex households are not raised better than children "in stable homes with a mother and a father."
