‘Good Morning America’ weatherman Sam Champion weds partner

ABC’s Good Morning America weather anchor Sam Champion married his partner, artist Rubem Robierb on Friday, in an intimate ceremony in Champion’s New York City apartment.

The couple was surrounded by friends, family and Champion’s fellow “Good Morning America” anchors. Robierb’s mother and sisters joined the festivities via Skype from Brazil, according to ABC.

Champion, 51, and Robierb met through mutual friends a few years ago in Miami, where Robierb resides.

Champion is the weather anchor for ABC’s flagship morning program, a position he has held since September 2006; he previously anchored WABC-TV in New York City’s weather forecasts for 18 years. Robierb, born in Brazil, is an artist who shows his work in Miami, Atlanta, Santa Monica and New York.

The couple announced their engagement in October on “Good Morning America.” Watch:

New York state Supreme Court Justice George J. Silver officiated the ceremony, which lasted about 10 minutes.
