Just hours after the LGBT advocacy group “Truth Wins Out” published an interview in which a senior Salvation Army official in Australia said the belief that gays must die is part of the Salvation Army’s “Christian doctrine,” the organization on Saturday issued an apology to the LGBT community.
We must be cognizant of where are pennies are going when we drop them in the Salvation Army’s shiny red kettle. In addition to anti-gay fights which the Salvation Army has participated in, they have also fought in court in defense of their virulently anti-gay hiring and employment practices.
As the holidays approach, the Salvation Army bell ringers are out in front of stores dunning shoppers for donations.
