NCLR says Prop 8 sponsors should not be allowed to ‘usurp’ elected officials
Calling it an “unthinkable blow to California’s democratic system of government if the handful of individuals who sponsored Prop 8 could make decisions for the entire state,” Kate Kendell, Executive Director of the NCLR, on Tuesday said that proponents of Proposition 8 should not be allowed to “usurp duly elected officials.”

Minnesota school district faces another lawsuit over treatment of LGBT students
The National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) this week filed a lawsuit in federal district court in Minneapolis on behalf of a sixth student, an out lesbian, who was harassed while attending school in the Anoka-Hennepin School District, where a “neutrality” policy prevents teachers and staff from addressing LGBT issues, including bullying.
