Maine primary winner could become youngest openly LGBT state lawmaker
Ryan Fecteau emerged victorious in the Democratic primary for Maine’s 11th House district on Tuesday, a development that could make him the youngest serving openly LGBT state lawmaker. Fecteau, 21, led opponent David Flood by a 493 to 263 vote margin with 100% of precincts reporting.

Long Beach, Calif., elects city’s first openly gay, Latino mayor
LONG BEACH, Calif. — Residents of Long Beach, Calif., on Tuesday elected Robert Garcia their next mayor, making him the city’s first openly gay and Latino chief executive. Garcia will replace Mayor Bob Foster, who has held the position since 2006 when he takes office on July 15th.

I just can’t vote for a gay Republican…
Carl DeMaio is running for the U.S. House of Representatives. He’s a fiscal conservative Republican, and that is why he won’t have the vote of this liberal Democratic lesbian. And I don’t like the fact that he won’t really talk about LGBTQ issues – saying instead that the fiscal issues are more important. I have to hope that if he does get elected he will vote on the side of supporting LGBTQ issues … but, then again, we all know that the words “gay” and “Republican” mix about as well as oil and water.
