Gallup study ranks states according to population of LGBT residents
PRINCETON, NJ — The percentage of U.S. adults who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) ranges from 1.7 percent in North Dakota to 5.1 percent in Hawaii, and 10 percent in the District of Columbia, according to a new study by Gallup.

A new study by the Gallup organization — posed to more than 120,000 U.S. adults thus far — shows that only 3.4 percent said “yes” when asked if they identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.
