S. political and military leaders, invited guests, and service members, President Barack Obama acknowledged the services rendered to the nation and its citizens by the outgoing Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Michael Mullen, whose retirement ceremony marked the end of a distinguished forty-three year career in the U.S. Navy.

Appeals court dismisses DADT lawsuit, refuses to rule on constitutionality of ban
A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday dismissed a seven year old lawsuit brought by the Log Cabin Republicans Thursday, refusing to determine the constitutionality of the military’s now-repealed “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy that barred gays and lesbians from serving openly in the U.S. military.
