California Supreme Court to rule on ‘standing’ issue in Proposition 8 appeal
SAN FRANCISCO — The California Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice that it will rule Thursday whether proponents of California’s Proposition 8 have “legal standing” to defend the 2008 voter-approved law ban on same-sex marriage.

NCLR says Prop 8 sponsors should not be allowed to ‘usurp’ elected officials
Calling it an “unthinkable blow to California’s democratic system of government if the handful of individuals who sponsored Prop 8 could make decisions for the entire state,” Kate Kendell, Executive Director of the NCLR, on Tuesday said that proponents of Proposition 8 should not be allowed to “usurp duly elected officials.”
