Bostock v. Clayton County

“Gerald Lynn Bostock v. Clayton County, Georgia” is a lawsuit filed by Bostock against his former employer, Clayton County, Georgia, after they fired him as an adviser to the county juvenile court system alleging “conduct unbecoming of a county employee.” Mr. Bostock asserts that he was dismissed solely because he is gay and that violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. After losing in lower courts, Bostock’s appeal for review to the United States Supreme Court was accepted, and his case, joined with two others; “Altitude Express, Inc., et al., v.
Melissa Zarda, as Executor of the Estate of Donald Zarda, et al.” (also asserting anti-gay discrimination) and “R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes Inc. v. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission” (involving an assertion of anti-transgender discrimination) was argued on October 8, 2019.
