Under a new Florida law, all books in school libraries and classrooms must be selected by a certified media specialist.

The North Dakota lawmaker who introduced the bill called such books “disturbing and disgusting.”

42 states have either introduced bills or taken other actions that would ban certain books and restrict how educators discuss racism, sexism, and LGBTQ issues in the classroom.
