Think pink!

That’s the theme of Denver Pridefest’s biggest weekend fundraiser, The Pink Party, for One Colorado’s efforts to elect pro-equality candidates throughout Colorado.

Jen Lowe and her wife Wendy Howell are regulars at the event, and it was a rose-colored opportunity in 2023 for an eye-popping pink version of the couple’s annual “Pride Kiss.”

“Every year, I put on my lipstick and give my spouse Wendy a ‘Pride Kiss’ and snap a photo of us,” Lowe says. “For this one, we took it at The Pink Party.”

“Wendy and I have been together for 16 years, married for ten (legally nine). We have an 11½ -year-old bunny, Amelia, who is our heart and boss of our home. I work for the Denver Public Library, and Wendy is the State Director of the Working Families Party’s Colorado chapter. They work to elect candidates and pass policies that will advance gender, economic, and racial justice.”

“The Pink Party celebrates Colorado LGBTQ+ elected officials and allies, as well as important policies passed in the previous year while calling for action in the year to come.”

“We love attending The Pink Party every year because while we as a community continue to have more than our fair share of struggles, it is because of those struggles that our wins feel that much more gratifying.

“For the two of us, I like to think that the Pink Party also celebrates how Wendy and I met: through organizing and fighting the good fight, which we will keep doing, side-by-side, for many years to come.”
