What if dogs acted Heartstopper? This is what it would look like

Netflix’s Heartstopper is back for Season 2, and the world can’t get enough. But could it be better?

Of course! Everything is better with a dog. What if a border collie and a golden retriever acted in the roles of Nick and Charlie?

The streaming giant released a parody video with canines in the lead roles that quickly went viral. But what about Nellie, Nick’s dog? After all, she was the scene-stealer for the season.

It turns out that Nellie is played by a male border collie named Echo. He was initially the understudy and was a little difficult to work with.

“The original dog was unwell so Echo stepped in to save the day like a true professional! He was ready for his moment in the spotlight!!” according to Alice Oseman, the author of the graphic novels the show is based on.

But what was it like working with the pooch? Was it tricky?

“It was,” actor Kit Connor, who plays Nick, said. “You wouldn’t know, but it was a real pain at times. But Echo was such a beautiful, beautiful dog. The relationship between Nick and Nellie is actually quite consistent, and it’s quite nice. There are certain scenes where, really, Nellie is there to comfort Nick, which is really cute.”

“It was definitely difficult. Working with dogs in general is not always easy. But I think the final result is all that matters, and it was definitely worth it.”
