Right-wingers meltdown over pics of Disney’s live-action “Snow White” film

Transphobic right-wingers like Matt Walsh and Libs of TikTok’s Chaya Raichik are upset that Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Snow White features Latina actress Rachel Zegler and other full-sized actors of color playing the heroine’s helpful “dwarves.”

The transphobes re-posted images from the film’s production shared by the British tabloid The Daily Mail. The tabloid’s headline and article description read: “Snow White and the Seven… Politically-Correct Companions? First pictures of new Disney live-action remake show princess walking with diverse band of merry men and women after row over using dwarf actors.”

The author of the original “The Little Mermaid” was bisexual and he wrote it after his male crush rejected him.

A Disney spokesperson initially told The Daily Beast, “The photos are fake and not from our production.” However, Disney later said that the photos were from the film’s production but weren’t “official” photos.

Reposting the images, Walsh wrote, “Snow White is a 19th-century German fairy tale. The name literally refers to the character’s skin color. This is what actual cultural appropriation looks like. Probably the most blatant case we’ve seen yet.”

Walsh also opposed Disney’s recent live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, stating that it was “unscientific” for Black actress Halle Bailey to play the film’s titular character.

Raichik wrote, “New diverse Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs movie only has 1 dwarf and Snow White is Hispanic. Disney says they want to ‘avoid reinforcing stereotypes.’ Disney lost $900 million dollars on their last 8 releases. Guess they’re not done losing $ yet…”

Fox News commentator Tomi Lahren wrote, “So they have one little person playing a dwarf to be more ‘politically correct?’ So 6 other little people didn’t get the job or the check and somehow this is more ‘sensitive?’ Disney is a joke.”

Failed congressional candidate Robby Starbuck tweeted, “Meet the cast of Disney’s new woke Snow White film. Snow White is Columbian now and the 7 dwarves look more like the 6 normal sized hipster pedos and 1 dwarf from Portland. Snow White no longer has ‘skin white as snow’. Absolutely ridiculous.”

Conservatives have increasingly criticized Disney for producing racially and LGBTQ+-inclusive content, especially since Republican presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has targeted the company for opposing his state’s infamous “Don’t Say Gay” law, which forbids any mention of LGBTQ+ issues in K-12 classrooms.
