Out wrestler Anthony Bowens got a Pride Month surprise when the crowd started chanting, “He’s gay!” repeatedly at a match after a female reporter made a ridiculous blunder.
She told him that she could tell he was into her.

“I support trans kids, trans grown-ups, gays, and lesbians is because I know when I was growing up, I didn’t fit in anywhere.”
Bowens is currently one of the most popular people in wrestling and made history as the first out gay wrestler to become an All Elite Wrestling (AEW) champion. Under the team name, The Acclaimed, Bowens and his wrestling partner, Max Caster, won AEW’s Tag Team Championship in 2022.

So when the duo took to the ring for the AEW Rampage, QTV reporter Harley Cameron’s statement was obviously uninformed.
“I would sit in my room, in my car, and just cry thinking if I came out, you know, my career is over, fans would hate me, wrestlers would hate me, a national TV company wouldn’t take a chance on me,” he said about his fears before coming out. “So, there was all this fear, you know, all this fear and anxiety that I look back on now.”
But in a tweet sent after the match, Bowens celebrated the moment, sending, “If ya told me years ago, I’d have an arena chanting HE’S GAY at me in the most POSITIVE of ways, I’d say you’re crazy.”
