Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) went to New York City to protest Donald Trump’s pending arrest on charges related to paying off a porn actress to keep silent about his extramarital sex just before the 2016 election.

Greene was listed as a headliner of the protest outside the Manhattan courthouse organized by the New York Young Republican Club, a group with ties to white nationalists, according to Politico. But during her brief speech – in which she attacked transgender people – she was swarmed by protesters and her voice was drowned out by drums, whistles, and chanting. She fled to her car.

“Democrats are the party of violence,” Greene can be heard saying on a megaphone. “They are the party that enabled [inaudible] and cheered for violent riots all through 2020 and they allowed cities to be burned.”

“We’re the party of peace. we’re the party that wants to protect the lives of the unborn,” she continued, before she added a slight against trans people. “We’re the party of male and female, two genders only.”

“Democrats are the communists, and they’re destroying America, destroying freedom!”

She tried to thank the people who organized the protest when the crowd started chanting “USA! USA! USA!” Greene tried to keep talking but people shouted over her, blowing whistles. She then put down the mic and got escorted to her SUV.

“We were swarmed. Unbelievably swarmed,” Greene told Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN) in an interview.

Greene, who is Christian, made a noteworthy comparison in that RSBN interview: she said Trump getting arrested is like Jesus getting arrested by the Romans.

“Trump is joining some of the most incredible people in history being arrested today,” Greene said. “Nelson Mandela was arrested, served time in prison. Jesus! Jesus was arrested and murdered.”
