Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) will continue his bid to become Speaker of the House today after losing 11 consecutive votes to secure the position.

While McCarthy is the big loser, the internet is winning with all of the jokes and memes about his woes.

After all, the jokes practically write themselves as CSPAN cameras roam the room, showing members of Congress huddled together trying to sway votes or, in out Representative-elect George Santos’s (R-NY) case, picking their noses and playing on their phones.

Today’s vote is on the second anniversary of the MAGA riot at the U.S. Capitol. McCarthy has refused to sanction or deal with his members who stoked the insurrection and now they’ve turned their fire on him. If he’d led his caucus and punished the ones who tried to overthrow the government, they wouldn’t be around to try to overthrow him too.

Instead, McCarthy has become the laughingstock of late-night comedians and Twitter. And, of course, we rounded up the best.
