A short video has the internet wondering if Madonna just came out as gay.

Posted to TikTok, the video shows a pink-haired Madonna holding what appears to be a fuchsia undergarment with the words “If I miss, I’m Gay!” written on the screen.

She throws the panties at a waste bin and misses, then throws up her hand and turns away from the camera.

“did madonna just,” wrote popular Twitter user Matt Bernstein, sharing the video.

Madonna has made references to her possible identity as a queer person in the past. In 1990, while promoting “Justify My Love,” she said, “I think everybody has a bisexual nature. That’s my theory. I could be wrong.”

“I won’t say I have never slept with a woman, but I love men,” she said in another interview, according to Newsweek.

Madonna also famously kissed pop stars Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.

Moreover, she has long been a fierce advocate of LGBTQ equality since the 80s, well before it was even legal to be gay in all 50 states.

“Fighting for all marginalized people is a duty and an honor I could not turn my back on nor will I ever,” she said at the GLAAD Media Awards in 2019. “The AIDS epidemic, the plague that moved in like a black cloud in New York City, and in the blink of an eye, took out all of my friends.”

“As soon as you really understand what it means to love, you understand what it takes to become a human being, and that it is every human’s duty to fight, to advocate, to do whatever we can and whatever it takes,” she said.

It’s unclear if Madonna’s latest TikTok is serious and whether she was using the word “gay” as an umbrella term that includes bisexuality and pansexuality. But her fans loved it.
