Pride in Pictures: My daughters’ first pride

Amanda Skinner and daughter Breana at their first Pride

For our third annual Pride in Pictures, LGBTQ Nation asked readers to submit a meaningful photo of themselves at Pride.

We have absolutely loved seeing your joy, your glitter, your fabulous outfits, and of course, your pride. Now, we’re spending the summer sharing some of our favorite photos and stories with all of you.

Name: Amanda Skinner

Location: Atlanta, GA

Caption: This is a picture of one of my daughters, Breana, along with a friend of ours from our church. My husband and I took our three girls to Atlanta Pride and we all helped work the booth for our open and affirming church, Johns Creek Christian Church located in Johns Creek, Georgia. This was our very first Pride, and sadly Atlanta has not had a live one since that year due to the pandemic. My daughter, Breana, was 8 at the time, and since her twin sister is transgender and transitioned at the age of six, we knew it was time to take our three girls with us to our first Pride. It was amazing and we are so hopeful for another chance to celebrate Atlanta Pride in person; hopefully this year!
