Freedom to Marry documentary shows just how love won

A little over a year age, love won as we LGBTQ people across the nation celebrated the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on same-sex marriage. Eddie Rosenstein’s documentary The Freedom to Marry looks at the long journey to that celebration and some of the key players in that decision.

Here’s the synopsis:

Over the last four decades, same-sex marriage has gone from a ‘preposterous notion’ to one of the most successful civil rights campaigns in the world. THE FREEDOM TO MARRY is a “War Room” style feature documentary about the same-sex marriage movement, from the final frenetic months of the legal and grassroots campaign.

The documentary follows Evan Wolfson, the “architect” of the same-sex marriage movement, legendary civil rights attorney Mary Bonauto, and her clients, April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse. It’s been met with overwhelmingly positive reviews for its intimate look at the marriage equality movement and the Supreme Court victory.

While The Freedom to Marry is not yet available for online streaming, it is making its way around different theaters and festivals. You can watch the full trailer below and learn more about the film here.
