Texas pastor prays for God to ‘finish the job’ of killing LGBT people

We’ve seen plenty of loathsome Christian pastors crawling out of the woodwork to denigrate LGBT people, but Texas minister Donnie Romero of Stedfast Baptist Church in Fort Worth may be the actual worst.

We’ve seen preachers offering up praise for the Orlando shooter who killed 49 and wounded dozens at an Orlando gay nightclub. There was the pastor in Tennessee who posted “God’s wrath may be getting started to fall on the gays” on his church sign and the minister from Georgia’s Back To The Bible Holiness Church who put “Satan made gays and transgender” on his sign. And, of course, Westboro Baptist made an appearance when it was time to bury the dead.

Romero, however, decided to kick things up a notch by actively preaching that the mass killings should continue and expressed hope that the victims still in the hospital will die of their wounds.

“These 50 sodomites are all perverts and pedophiles, and they are the scum of the earth, and the earth is a little bit better place now,” Romero said in his Sunday sermon.

“And I’ll take it a step further, because I heard on the news today, that there are still several dozen of these queers in ICU and intensive care. And I will pray to God like I did this morning, I will do it tonight, I’ll pray that God will finish the job that that man started, and he will end their life, and by tomorrow morning they will all be burning in hell, just like the rest of them, so that they don’t get any more opportunity to go out and hurt little children.”

Romero last made the news with a similar rant against LGBT people in 2014.

“I’m not going to let any of these dirty faggots inside my church,” Romero said at the time. “They are all pedophiles … They’re always trying to rape and hurt other people. They’re relentless. They are relentless. They are predators and given an opportunity to snatch one of your children, they would do it in a heartbeat”
