After an awkward altercation in a Walmart restoom in Danbury, Connecticut, a cisgender female who was assumed to be trans says she’s utterly shocked and “cannot fathom” what it would be like to face transphobic opposition every day.
22-year-old Aimee Toms took to Facebook to tell her story, which involves being called “disgusting,” flicked off, and escorted out of the bathroom.
She says the incident “really lit a fit under my ass today.”
According to Toms, a woman approached her from behind and said, “You are not supposed to be here! You need to leave!”

Aimee suspects she was mistaken for trans because of her short hair and the fact that she was wearing a baseball cap. (“I look cute in a baseball cap; that’s just my opinion.”
“I can get why at first glance she would mistake me for somebody who’s transgender,” she says.
“After experiencing the discrimination they face firsthand, I cannot fathom the discrimination transgender people must face in a lifetime,” Toms continues in the video.
“Can you imagine going out every day and having people tell you you should not be who you are or that people will not accept you as who you are?”
“I don’t want to live on this planet anymore,” she writes.
