Actress Helen Hunt mistaken for Jodie Foster (again)

Actress Helen Hunt mistaken for Jodie Foster (again)

The actress who won an Oscar for As Good As it Gets, starred in TV’s Mad About You and just wrapped another new TV series, apparently looks too much like Jodie Foster. Because Helen Hunt tweeted on Monday that yet again she was mistaken for the out lesbian director and famous movie star, this time at a Starbucks.

Hunt shared her story on Twitter, saying the barista who took her order didn’t ask for her name, and when she asked if she needed it, the barista replied, “We gotcha,” and winked at her.

Hunt then tweeted a picture after receiving her drink, with the first name of Jodie Foster, misspelled.

Hunt hashtagged her doppleganger in her tweet. Starbucks, ever conscious of its social media profile, replied in kind, cheekily:

This isn’t the first time Hunt was mistaken for Foster, of course. As reported by Entertainment Weekly, the actress told David Letterman in 1994 it happened all the time, most hilariously at a supermarket checkout.

Hunt told the host the clerk, thinking she was Foster, offered to not charge her: “The guy is checking me out, and says, ‘You’re Jodie Foster.’ And I said, ‘I’m actually not, thank you.’ ‘No you are, I know you’re Jodie Foster.’ ‘I’m begging you, I’m not, I’m really not,’” Hunt proved it to the clerk by showing him her driver’s license. He then believed her, and decided to charge her after all.
