Australian comedian Barry Humphries — best known as his alter ego, Dame Edna — was profiled in The Telegraph this week in order to promote an upcoming show, and spent the majority of his time bemoaning “tyrannical” political correctness.
The 81-year-old says he sides with fellow Australian Germaine Greer, who caused outrage by claiming that trans women like Caitlyn Jenner are men “who believe that they are women and have themselves castrated.”
Humphries says he sides with Greer wholeheartedly:
“I agree with Germaine! You’re a mutilated man, that’s all. Self-mutilation, what’s all this carry on? Caitlyn Jenner – what a publicity-seeking ratbag. It’s all given the stamp – not of respectability, but authenticity or something. If you criticize anything you’re racist or sexist or homophobic.”
