Two teens are accused of murder after reportedly attacking a gay man and filming it on a mobile phone.
The Moroccan refugees are aged 16 and 19, and were traveling in Sweden.
During their June visit, they followed a gay man to his apartment in Bergsjön.
After hearing they were in need, he offered them clothing and food.
Once inside, the two refugees beat him to death, according to police.
Shortly after the attack, the men wrapped a dead snake around the man’s neck. He was subsequently dressed in women’s clothes.
The 16-year-old has been charged with hate crime murder.
The 19-year-old is charged with aiding and abetting a criminal.
The 16-year-old insists he was acting in self-defense, and claims the man tried to have sex with him.
Investigators found footage on the phone that clearly shows the victim on the floor and being beaten. The two teens are shouting homophobic slurs.
The 16-year-old told investigators there’s no way he could’ve possibly carried out the attack.
Because he’s afraid of snakes.
The two men will be going on trial soon.
