Kids these days…

Tyunique Nelson was struggling with parts of her life. Through her struggles she found some peace with Alex, a new person she met at school:

“I got bullied in school because of some other incidents that had been with another student, and I was really depressed for a long time. I started to become suicidal and then I met my partner for 2 years now and everything became better,” says Tyunique.

Eventually, Alex came out to Tyunique as transgender, but that didn’t make a difference to Tyunique.

“I want people to know that there’s not one type of love; there are like a billion types. Special connections happen everywhere, and they’re sometimes easy to find, and they’re sometimes hard to find, but there are ways to get through it, and there are ways you can get around the obstacles that stand in your way, so just be a wonderful couple.”

This is her story:

“I’m from Driftwood,” a collection of “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer stories from all over the world,” appears weekends on LGBTQ Nation. For more true LGBT stories, or to share your own, visit “I’m from Driftwood.”
