Comedian and former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Victoria Jackson, a self-proclaimed devout Christian and Tea Party activist who frequently advocates against LGBT rights, said that legalizing marriage equality for gays and lesbians “would make God mad.”
Appearing on the Howard Stern show on Tuesday, Jackson explained that her opposition to same-sex marriage is based on the Bible.
“God made the rules. He made a man and woman’s bodies fit together, he made the Ten Commandments,” she said.
Jackson, who also claims to have gay friends, commented that one “reformed” gay pal is abstinent: “He just has temptation and doesn’t act on it. Like an alcoholic.”
In 2011, Jackson criticized the TV show “Glee” for showing a kiss between two male actors, calling it “sickening.”
When accused of being homophobic, Jackson countered that that was merely a “cute liberal buzzword,” and suggested that Glee should be replaced with a show promoting celibacy instead.
