First daytime soap to feature gay kiss ending after 54 years

CBS confirmed this week they are canceling the long-running daytime drama As The World Turns.

The show has been a favorite of LTBTQ viewers recently, who have closely followed the love story of Luke Snyder and Noah Mayer.

As-the-World-Turns

The characters Luke and Noah (or “Nuke,” as they came to be known), played by Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann, made history when they shared the first ever gay male kiss on daytime television in September 2007. (In case you missed it…)

Since then, fans have following their growth into becoming daytime’s first gay “supercouple.”

As The World Turns has been on the air 54 years; its last episode will end in September 2010.
