Robert George, Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton University and conservative Catholic legal scholar and activist, has launched a new political organization, the American Principles Project.
The group’s website says it will hold Republicans accountable to conservative positions, including opposition to abortion and same-sex marriage among its top priorities.
The APP cites the definition of marriage — the most fundamental unit of society — is under intense assault, and with it the historic understanding of sexual morality and virtue that has been the foundation of our civilization, and claims it will take to task who expand government, spend our tax dollars wantonly, do nothing about out-of-control judges who undermine democracy, and sit idly by as marriage is redefined and further weakened.
George is a founder and chairman of the board of the National Organization for Marriage, a non-profit organization that supports the traditional definition of marriage — you remember, the group whose poster girl is Carrie Prejean, former Miss California who made headlines by denouncing gay marriage during the Miss USA pageant, and a fine, albiet overexposed, upstanding example of morality herself.
