On Jan., 14, 2012, EricJames Borges committed suicide, shocking his friends and his co-workers at The Trevor Project. SDGLN Contributor Melanie Nathan attended one of his funerals, and obtained a copy of one of his suicide notes that gives insight on what he was thinking. This is her exclusive story.

Eric James Borges, 19, of Visalia, California, succumbed to suicide Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Known as EricJames to his friends, he was an intern with The Trevor Project, and a Supplemental instructor at the College of the Sequoias.

David McFarland, the interim executive director and CEO for The Trevor Project -- a national suicide prevention hotline for LGBT youth -- is warning that overexposure by the media and LGBT bloggers, press, and Facebook pages focusing on specific cases of suicides by LGBT youth may be exacerbating the problem.
