SPARKS, Nev. -- In less than 10 minutes after his mother dropped him off at school on the morning of Oct. 21, 2013, seventh-grader Jose Reyes and a popular middle school teacher lay on the school yard, dead from gunshot wounds. Two classmates were wounded and a school was in panic.

TEL AVIV -- Israel’s state prosecution said Monday that the suspect in the 2009 deadly attack on a gay youth center in Tel Aviv has confessed that the shooting was motivated by anti-gay bias.

Man pleads not guilty in New York City hate crime shooting

NEW YORK — A man accused of fatally shooting a gay man walking with a companion in New York City’s Greenwich Village afterward claimed that he opened fire because the victim “thought he was tough in front of his bitch,” prosecutors said in court papers Tuesday.

TEL AVIV -- Israeli police have arrested three suspects in connection with a shooting at Tel-Aviv’s gay youth center that took place in 2009. The three suspects were arrested Wednesday and will appear in court Thursday for a remand hearing.

Family Research Council is to blame for near massacre at its headquarters

Someone has to sit Tony Perkins down and school him on the truth. I am very certain that Perkins is already aware of this truth, but he needs to be told publicly so that everyone else can know. The Southern Poverty Law Center is not responsible for Floyd Corkins’ near massacre at FRC headquarters last year. If Perkins wants to blame someone, he should look to himself and his organization. For years, while under the guise of Biblical principles, the FRC has dehumanized the LGBT community....

WASHINGTON -- A Virginia man pleaded guilty Wednesday to wounding a security guard at the headquarters of a conservative Christian lobbying group, a shooting that made headlines in part because the man was carrying 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches.

The fact is that 20 sets of parents got the call I most fear, and that without warning the precious looks, kisses, hugs, innocent conversations and happiness that are my heart and soul treasures can abruptly end and be removed, forever. This event was terrorism because so many of us feel the searing pain of the poor families who are facing the reality of their loss. I wish to my soul that I could spare them the pain they feel, I wish it more than any other thing this Christmas, and take little solace in the fact that I get to hug my boys and take them in my arms still.

Unspeakable tragedy, horrific crime, inexplicable -- all words that inadequately describe the evil that was visited on a small New England town and its most vulnerable citizens Friday, its children. ... My heart breaks for those families, who at what now should be a season of joy for them, have been forever marred by the violence visited upon them.
