HARRISONBURG, Va. -- When an anti-gay preacher stood outside of a James Madison University library in Harrisonburg, Va., this week, to preach the sinfulness of homosexuality, he was greeted by students sharing a song about love and tolerance. The unidentified preacher was drowned by a chorus of more than 100 student voices singing the song "How He Loves."

S.D. man left bloody, bruised after telling woman not to use gay slur

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - A South Dakota man says he was just doing the right thing when told a passer-by on the street not to use anti-gay slurs, but what happened next left him bloody and bruised. Drew Bartscher, 27, says he was in crowd with two of his friends outside a tavern in Sioux Falls early Sunday morning when he heard a woman use a derogatory term for gays.

JANESVILLE, Wis. — The 19-year-old Republican candidate for the Wisconsin state Assembly, who apologized last week for calling gays “fags” in a Twiiter post last year, has suspended his campaign and dropped out of the race after additional racist and homophobic comments he made on social media surfaced Tuesday.

Photographer blinded by gasoline in alleged anti-gay hate crime

SWANSEA, Wales -- A freelance photographer has been blinded in one eye following an alleged anti-gay hate crime late last week in which his attackers threw gasoline in his face. Tyler Maddick, 20, says he was targeted by three or four men in a car as he walked home in Swansea on Sept. 11, reports the BBC.
