Sir Elton John remembers Liberace

Sunday, September 22, 2013

Upon being introduced by Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, the stars of HBO’s Emmy-winning Liberace biopic “Behind the Candelabra,” Sir Elton John spoke both of the performer’s influence and his great dress sense.

Then he added, “What I was not aware of years later was his lifestyle.”

And then came the punch line: “Yeah right.”

  7. Its OK…. all very well and all…. but he did not deserve the Tony for Billy Elliot in 2009. Next to Normal deserved the Award. That did more for the LGBTQ community than you could imagine….

  9. He remembers Liberace, a closeted gay man, but forgets the people who are suffering now due to Russia’s homophobic hate laws. It’s typical of Elton. he doesn’t really care about Liberace except that Liberace had money. That’s what Elton admires most. Money. It’s why he entertained for Rush Limbaugh. Boycott SOCHI Olympics, Elton!!!! You money-grubbing media-whore.

  18. Elton has been a tireless advocate for AIDS-related causes going back to the 1990′s when Ryan White was hounded out of his school and home by a bunch of knuckle-dragging bigots. He has never stopped being an advocate for many charities. You just don’t hear about him as much now because he and his partner adopted, and are home raising 2 young sons. Elton is doing his first tour in years. Anyone with a 5-decade career in the pop/rock music business these days deserves some respect. He has made contributions to the music industry that set him apart from the rest. And if all you can do is make faggot jokes and bitch about him not doing enough “for the cause” go volunteer yourself at a shelter or a clinic. Donate your own money. If it makes you feel good to tear people down, just think how good you will feel when YOU actually contribute.

  23. I’m a passionate, happily enslaved man, 25 yrs endentured to my beautiful wife and 2 grown kids…. she asked me > if I could marry anyone , and keep and love my family, Who would it be… My response was -Sir Elton — just for the fact that the proximity to Himself would inspire me to heights unknown… and when He divorced me for non-consummation., I’d get a buncha money too….
