Minnesota state Rep. Steve Simon (D-St. Louis Park) testified before a House committee on Monday against a bill that would seek voter approval to amend the state constitution to ban same-sex marriage.
Simon said, if sexual orientation is innate as science is showing us, and not a lifestyle choice, then God created gay people.
“If that is true … what does that mean to the moral force of your argument?” he asked. “How many gay people must God create before we accept that he wants them around?” Watch:
The House Civil Law Committee approved the bill by a vote of 10-7 along party lines — all Republicans voted for the measure.
On Friday, Madeline Koch, a self-identified heterosexual Republican, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee to oppose the ban, and said, “I ask you to not let me down as my representatives, by putting your own personal beliefs and benefits in the way of equality.” (Video here.)
That committee also approved the bill — the vote was 8-4, with all Republicans in favor and all Democrats opposed.

The Bible isn’t a good reference for anything of consequence. Even if you do the right thing for “religious” reasons, it’s still misguided.
It’s been alleged that the eunuchs who were born that way (Matt. 19:11-12) are the modern day LGBT community. If not, can anyone tell us convincingly where are the eunuchs of today, and how they can be recognized? — especially those who are born as eunuchs. :)

I am getting more and more ashamed of the midwest….first Wisconsin and now Minnesota. Apparently, I got out just in time. I hope Governor Dayton will veto any such bill. When I lived there, it was pretty much a “live and let live” state. What happened in the past 6 years that encouraged Minnesotans to elect such repressive angry creepy politicians to state offices? And where is this all going to end?
Why don’t we call it a ‘Holy Union’ – meaning the state of being united to a person of the same sex. Then we can move on past this nonsense about ‘marriage.’ Frankly, I really don’t want to have to continue to fight this endless fight. All we want is the same oppotunities as everyone else. We want our ‘significant others’ and ‘children’ to be able to receive our social security, military pensons, and any other advantages we may have earned.
Can a homosexual reproduce? Is this chick for real? We’d better be careful, this is the first time I’m hearing about how being gay apparently makes you sterile. I know a few gay parents who might be very confused by this since they have gone ahead and had children anyway…apparently no one sent them the memo.
Why are people against Gays? They have no reason to be. Sure if it’s religious, it’s somewhat understandable, but other than that, there’s no point. If you hate homosexuals so much, then just ignore them.

Wow. I thank God I live in Canada and as a homosexual I get all the same rights as anyone else. I have been happily married to my wife since 2007 and I haven’t noticed the hounds of hell running anywhere around my country yet! LOL I think its time for your government to separate religion and state and think about basic rights. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but everyone deserves to be treated equally. It isn’t perfect up here and some people still are not happy about gay marriage but so far our government has done pretty good at keeping religion out of politics and we can still marry. I really hope things change in the States. One day soon I hope to see gay marriage legalized there and people able to get on with their lives once they realize we’re no different than them. All of this anti Gay activity is based soley on fearmongering and lies. If being around Gay people makes you Gay, then being around straight people would make you straight. If biological reproduction is the standard for marriage then infertile and elderly people should be barred from marriage too.

Why does that 5 year old in kindergarten need to know that little Johnny’s parents are homosexuals?Or that little 6 year old Jane’s mom and her girlfriend like to have sex with each other? Or that the famous singer on the tv and radio chooses to have sex with other men?
No child deserves the mental anguish nor will they know how to process and deal with issues around the sexual behaviors of adults.
