Malaysia sends ‘effeminate’ boys to correctional camp to learn masculinity

Malaysian school authorities have sent 66 Muslim teenage boys to a correctional camp to learn “masculine behaviors” after their teachers identified them as effeminate.

Pink News reports:

An official from Terengganu state said the boys, aged between 13 and 17, were identified by teachers as having effeminate mannerisms.

This week, they are being sent on a four-day “self-development course” in the hope of dissuading them from being gay or transgender.

Razali Daud, the state’s education director told Associated Press that the aim of the camp was “to guide them back to the right path in life before they reach a point of no return.”

“Such effeminate behavior is unnatural and will affect their studies in the future,” Daud said.

Gay sex is illegal in Malaysia and homosexuals say they face discrimination from government policies such as a law that makes sodomy punishable by 20 years in prison.
