HOUSTON — A transgender high school senior in Houston, Texas, has won a fight to wear a dress to the senior prom.

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Gay and lesbian teens who may feel uncomfortable attending their high schools’ traditional prom have another option — an alternative prom in the St. Cloud area that’s open to LGBT teens from across the state.

Conservative talk show host Janet Mefferd has waded into the controversy about an Indiana high school where a group of students wanted to organize a separate prom that would specifically prevent gay and lesbian students from attending.

INDIANAPOLIS — A coalition of gay rights organizations is trying to bolster the confidence of gay teens in response to an Indiana teacher’s assertion that gays have no purpose in life.

SIKESTON, Mo. — An openly gay teen in the southeast Missouri town of Sikeston will be allowed to take his boyfriend to the prom, school district officials said Friday.

A school district in southeast Missouri is facing a threat of legal action over a policy that prohibits same-sex couples from attending prom together. The Southern Poverty Law Center on Thursday accused the Scott County Central School District in Sikeston, Mo., of discrimination and gave the district until Feb. 25 to revise the school dance policy or face a potential lawsuit.

HYMERA, Ind. — An Indiana school district said Tuesday that a special education teacher who said that gays have no purpose and that LGBT teens were “offensive,” was simply “expressing her First Amendment rights.”
