Missouri county says it will not defend state’s ban on same-sex marriage
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Jackson County, Mo., will not fight a lawsuit challenging Missouri’s ban on same-sex marriage. ACLU files second lawsuit challenging Missouri same-sex marriage ban
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri’s constitutional ban on same-sex marriage is being challenged by a second lawsuit filed in Kansas City. The lawsuit was filed by attorneys for the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of two same-sex couples who were denied marriage licenses last week by the Jackson County recorder of deeds.

St. Louis Archdiocese condemns city for issuing same-sex marriage licenses
ST. LOUIS — The Catholic Archdiocese of St. Louis is condemning a city move challenging Missouri’s constitutional ban on same-sex marriage by issuing marriage licenses to four gay and lesbian couples. The diocese issued a written statement calling the city decision a violation of “the laws of our state (that) disregard(s) the laws of nature.”

Four same-sex couples issued marriage licenses, wed in St. Louis
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – St. Louis Mayor Francis G. Slay announced Thursday that marriage licenses were issued to four same-sex couples by St. Louis Recorder of Deeds Sharon Carpenter on Wednesday evening, coinciding with the one year anniversary of the Defense of Marriage Act being struck down. The four couples were then married at St. Louis City Hall.
