Microsoft Corp. and the chief rules enforcer for Xbox Live apologized to a small WV town and a 26-year-old gamer accused of violating their conduct by publicly declaring he’s from Fort Gay — a name the company considered offensive.

Microsoft has contributed $100,000 to the campaign to approve Referendum 71, which would uphold a state law to expand domestic-partnership benefits, the Seattle Times reports.
