The religious right is infused with pervasive, unrelenting hatred in its most ugly, unsubtle form. We are engaged in a tug of war between humanity and inhumanity as we witness the true colors of inhuman prejudices such as displayed by the right wing/GOP … They are digging their heels in and we are again witnessing the death cries of an antiquated, stubborn, and cowardly worldview.

I’ve been really understanding of Maggie Gallagher since meeting her. I may vehemently disagree with her on every point, but I did think the rhetoric could become more civil. Less name calling, more substance. But honestly, her latest just ticks me off to no end. “A society that is serious about marriage would gently stand up to gay people and say ‘not this, not now.’ Changes in law are hard to undo, once they are institutionalized. I did not decide to debate gay marriage, gay-marriage advocates did. I responded to the challenge.”

About the worst thing said about gay men, an allegation that is regularly dragged out by certain religious-right organizations, is that they molest children at rates vastly higher than their heterosexual counterparts. It is as devastating a charge as one can make in a country where jailed pedophiles, known in prison parlance as “short eyes,” are frequently murdered by self-righteous fellow inmates…

LGBT activist and blogger Alvin McEwen this week uncovered a “secret” Facebook group — whose memberships reads like a “who’s who” of anti-gay activists — aimed at promoting and disseminating anti-gay information through websites, including Youtube, Twitter and Facebook.

Republican presidential hopeful Fred Karger on Thursday issued a press release speculating that Maggie Gallagher — the co-founder and former chair of the National Organization for Marriage — has either divorced her husband of 18 years or was never married to him at all.
