The call comes as part of the Department of Health & Human Services celebration of the Affordable Care Act’s 12th anniversary.

Of those surveyed, 70% said they either had no LGBTQ competency training or else were unsure about it.

While Colorado policies already cover some aspects of gender-affirming care, there will now be more procedures deemed essential.

The bill lists protected health care professionals, including doctors and nurses and any “individual who furnishes or assists in the provision of a healthcare service.” Employers could demand their health insurance refuse to provide LGBTQ health care.
