Ellen helped keep LGBTQ equality in the public eye throughout 2017.

The ex-gay, ex-fan of Kim Burrell says that the gospel singer has been served with papers for a lawsuit.

“As if the only reason why they’re homosexuals is to piss you off.”

Gospel music undeniably has a queerness at its roots that has not only shaped the genre but it has continued to give gospel music its enduring vibrancy.

The organization said it wanted the focus to remain on the songwriters and the music.

They argue that Carrie Underwood should not have been allowed to sing at a Christian conference because her pro-LGBT beliefs are “not from God.”

“As someone who has received a lot of hate and prejudice and then discrimination because of who I choose to love… It only gives me more compassion.”
