MADISON, Wis. — The American Civil Liberties Union has asked a federal judge to lift a stay on same-sex marriages in Wisconsin. U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb found the state’s same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional in an ACLU lawsuit June 6, sending same-sex couples rushing to courthouses to marry.

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen warned county clerks Thursday that prosecutors could charge them for issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, saying the state’s gay marriage ban remains in effect despite a federal judge’s ruling that it’s unconstitutional.

MADISON, Wis. — Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen has asked a federal appeals court to halt same-sex marriages in Wisconsin after a judge declared the state’s ban on same-sex marriages unconstitutional. The Republican Van Hollen filed the motion Monday in the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen asked a federal judge on Friday to place on hold any future order she may make that would strike down the state’s ban on gay marriage, the second time this week the Republican expressed doubt in the state’s chances to succeed in defending the law.
