Arkansas SAFE Act

The state is the fourth to pass a law prohibiting trans students from using bathrooms that match their gender identity.

The host even skewered his own “reductive” jokes about trans people from the early 2000s.

Now that they have overridden one veto from the governor, the Arkansas legislature is not letting up on the gas pedal – and is determined to make the state the nation’s leader in anti-trans legislation.

Not one to miss an opportunity to insult trans people, the former president resorted to his tried-and-tired formula of derogatory nicknames and misrepresenting reality.

Trans rights advocates celebrated when Gov. Asa Hutchinson vetoed this bill yesterday. The legislature overrode his veto today.

“This is an example of where restraint is better than overbroad actions that interfere with important relationships in our society,” he stated.

This is the third anti-LGBTQ bill passed in Arkansas this year and has been called “the single most extreme anti-trans law to ever pass through a state legislature.”
