This week, we at LGBTQ Nation asked you, the readers, what your favorite quote was from Vice President Kamala Harris during her debate with Donald Trump’s debate.
The quote you picked was a response to a question about democracy, posed by co-moderator David Muir after Trump ranted about how he still believes he won in Georgia, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania in 2020 despite no evidence of widespread voter fraud being found after multiple court cases.
Trump “said he didn’t say that he lost by a whisker. So he still believes he did not lose the [2020] election,” Muir said, discussing Trump’s call to “prosecute” donors, voters, and election officials, who he claimed “cheated.” Muir asked Harris if she believes Trump is trying to “intimidate” and “suppress the vote” by bringing up the lie that he won the 2020 election again.
“Donald Trump was fired by 81 million people. So, let’s be clear about that. And clearly, he is having a very difficult time processing that,” Harris responded before explaining how she believes this reflects on his character.

“We cannot afford to have a president of the United States who attempts as he did in the past to upend the will of the voters in a free and fair election,” she continued.
Then Harris said the quote that you all picked: “World leaders are laughing at Donald Trump. I have talked with military leaders, some of whom worked with you. And they say you’re a disgrace.”
“And when you then talk in this way in a presidential debate and deny what over and over again are court cases you have lost, because you did, in fact, lose that election, it leads one to believe that perhaps we do not have in the candidate to my right the temperament or the ability to not be confused about fact,” she continued. “That’s deeply troubling. And the American people deserve better.”
About 43% of LGBTQ Nation readers picked that quote.
LGBTQ Nation will have another poll next week at our Equality For All 2024 election news center. In the meantime, make sure you’re registered to vote.
