Lesbian Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN) is celebrating the Minnesota State Fair by continuing a tradition led by prior state officials, and fans of her are cheering her on.
Last week, Craig posted a photo of her on X surrounded by shirtless firefighters while being held by a strong female firefighter. She thanked the firefighters in the local community in the post.

This post is a reference to a trend started by Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) where, during last year’s State Fair, she posted a picture of herself to social media surrounded by shirtless, muscular firefighters at the Minnesota AFL-CIO union location.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) posted a follow-up picture of her with many of the same firefighters as well, including the same female firefighter from Craig’s post.
Klobuchar brought some attention to the firefighters again this year, expressing her excitement for this year’s State Fair by sharing last year’s photo with the shirtless firefighters.
Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN) then replied to that repost, showing herself surrounded by the firefighters.
People are reacting with celebrations for Craig’s lesbian joy in the latest addition to a new political tradition.
“You are an icon,” one person wrote.
“Amazing. It did seem there was a twinkle in your eye when my family and I met you in the Education Building yesterday!”
“Queen 👸🏻”
“I need to visit the MN State Fair. Why don’t other state fairs have photo ops with firefighters? Could raise a lot of money and community support.”
“I need to go to Minnesota!!!”
“Minneota women politicians are setting a high bar for other states. But we’re still waiting for Amy Klobuchar’s 2024 union photo!”
This year, the Minnesota State Fair faced multiple challenges due to the weather, including tornadoes, intense heat, and pouring rain. Festivities are still ongoing, with many having celebrated in the midst of the weather.
